The school board has to approve all out of state field trips and my upcoming trip to Orlando is on the agenda. So I have arranged for all students going to Orlando with me to attend the school board as well as the three presentations to be given at the meeting. This helps to support my department because the board sees a tie between what is being done in the classroom to what students can use in real life.
The meeting that we attend only takes about an hour. We don't stay for the entire portion but the board knows what they are supporting and gets to see students excel in their area.
