Professional Organizations

Beyond my work for FBLA I am also the secretary for Wisconsin Business Education Association (WBEA).  This organization has at least three executive board meetings a year, as well as conference calls and email conversations throughout the year.

Today is one of the executive board meetings.  My co-worker was nice enough to drive (she knew I would be tired from the previous four days at FBLA officer training), she picked me up at 7:30.  Should I include the drive time? I don't if I drive to school, so because I am not with a student I will not count it.  But I am still up and doing items for my profession.

We arrive at the meeting at 9 a.m.  Through out the meeting we discuss:

  • budget
  • website
  • journal
  • scholarships
  • awards
  • state convention
  • DPI updates
  • membership awareness
There were other items gone over but this is the just of the day.  One issue that we are having is because of the state of education in Wisconsin, it is getting more difficult to find individuals willing to give of their time to have this organization move ahead.  There are several open officer positions for next fall that we don't currently have an individual interested in holding.  What will happen?  It is important to keep our area communicating but how can we do it if we don't have people to serve the organization.

Ok, so for the day I worked from 9 a.m. to 3:30.  Hours worked 6.5 (yes we worked through lunch)
